Know What You Believe and Why

What does it mean to truly own our faith? In a world full of competing voices and shifting cultural pressures, Jude 3 calls us to something ancient, sturdy, and urgent: contending for a faith that was once for all delivered to the saints. This message draws a striking parallel between the engineering marvel of the Burj Khalifa, which required a foundation 164 feet deep to stand firm on unstable ground, and our own need for deep theological roots. Just as that tower could not rise without a foundation equal to its height, we cannot live lives of genuine devotion to Christ without a faith that goes deeper than surface-level familiarity with the gospel. We are reminded that theology is not just for scholars. Every one of us already has a theology, a set of beliefs about God that shapes every decision we make, every priority we set, and every relationship we build. The question is not whether we have a theology, but whether it is rooted in scripture. As A.W. Tozer observed, what comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us. This message invites us to take that truth seriously and begin building on a foundation that will hold.
